2020 Mustang Football: Frequently Asked Questions

Mustang Athletics and Cal Poly continue to plan for varying scenarios for the upcoming football season. We are working hand-in-hand with local and state health officials as the health and wellness of our student-athletes, staff, and fans remain our top priority. As of August 7th, the Cal Poly Football season has been postponed to Spring 2021.

 

At this time, there are still many unknowns. We are on hold with single game ticket sales and will release any relevant dates regarding these topics as they become available. We understand that our season ticket holders and donors may have questions, and that those questions may change as information regarding the season evolves. When can I expect to hear an official decision regarding the 2020 football season?

On August 7th, the Big Sky Conference announced that football conference games would be postponed to Spring 2021. An official start date has not been given. Any changes to our schedule or ticketing procedures will be directly communicated to season ticket holders and Stampede Club Members, announced on our website at gopoly.com and all Mustang social media platforms.

 

I have health/financial concerns and do not feel comfortable committing to season tickets this year, but plan to return in 2021. Can I maintain my current season ticket location(s)?

We are committed to working with each season ticket holder on their individual needs and unique situations. Please contact us directly at 805-756-4849.

 

If one or more games are canceled this year, can I receive a refund on my tickets?

If one or more games are canceled this Spring, you will receive a refund for the number of games that did not occur. If the entire season is canceled, you will receive a full refund of your tickets and/or Stampede Club Membership. You also may choose to donate all or part of your ticket expenses to the Mustang Athletic Fund or request a refund.

 

When can I expect my season tickets and parking pass in the mail?

When a start date is announced for Spring 2021, we will notify Stampede Club Members and season ticket holders of the game schedule and expected timeline of receiving tickets. 

 

I’m interested in being a new season ticket holder, where can I purchase seats?

Fans interested in becoming new season ticket holders for the 2020 season may contact the Cal Poly Ticket Office at 805-756-4849 to be placed on a priority waiting list. There is a potential that new season tickets will not be offered this season if stadium capacity is reduced due to COVID-19 safety measures.

 

Will tailgating and parking be affected by new COVID-19 measures?

At this time, we continue to work with local and state health officials on any new health-related measures in the tailgate area and parking lots and will release new information when it is finalized. Tailgating spots will be made available for purchase once information for the season is available, with first priority given to prior year season tailgate holders.

 

When do single game tickets go on sale?

At this time, a date for single game tickets and mini plans on-sale has not been set. Please continue to watch gopoly.com for the most up-to-date ticket information.

 

What additional safety measures are being instituted at Spanos Stadium to protect fans and student-athletes?

Mustang Athletics staff, as well as members of our Cal Poly leadership team, are meeting regularly with university and local health officials to continue developing our COVID-19 readiness plan.

 

What happens to my seats if Spanos Stadium cannot operate at 100% capacity?

We are looking at multiple scenarios regarding safe seating inside Spanos Stadium. If you have a seat-license membership and are moved to an area in the stadium that is not a chairback due to limited capacity, your seat license will be extended by one year. If fans are not allowed in the stadium at all or the season is cancelled, your seat license will be extended by one year in those cases as well. While reduced capacity is a possibility, nothing has been confirmed and we will release information as we continue to receive more guidance from local and state health officials.

 

How can I best support Mustang student-athletes right now?

Mustang Athletics relies heavily on the support of our season ticket holders and athletic donors. Our goal is to reduce the risk of our student-athletes receiving reduced support and opportunities to be successful. If the season is altered in any way, Mustang Athletics will remain responsible for the educational support including scholarships, housing and wellness expenses for student-athletes.
