Mission

The Cal Poly Atheltics mission is to:

Intercollegiate athletics shall be an integral part of the educational program of the university and, as such, shall be guided by the same purposes and general objectives set forth for curricular and co-curricular programs of the University. Cal Poly is committed to providing a broad based, high quality, competitive, NCAA Division I athletic program that affords student-athletes opportunities to take advantage of Cal Poly's unique "learn by doing" philosophy. The program will demonstrate the positive values of physical activity, learned skills, teamwork, dedications to excellence, and sportsmanship acquired by active participants. The intercollegiate athletics department will take reasonable steps to ensure that the educational objectives and academic progress of student athletes shall be supported. Wherever possible, the athletic department will seek to provide opportunities to involve students in meaningful learning experiences related to their academic disciplines.

Alex G. Spanos Stadium

Originally opened in 1935, the 8,500-seat stadium was expanded in 2006 to its current capacity of 11,075. In addition, the stadium was renamed Alex G. Spanos Stadium after Alex Spanos, a Cal Poly alum and the owner of the San Diego Chargers, made a donation of $4 million to renovate Mustang Stadium.

Mott Athletic Center

Mott Gym is a 3,032 seat, indoor multi-purpose arena for the Cal Poly Mustangs men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball teams. In addition to the basketball and volleyball programs, the Cal Poly Mustangs men's wrestling team also calls Mott Gym home.

Robin Baggett Stadium

Baggett Stadium is home to the Cal Poly Mustangs baseball team, a member of the Division I Big West Conference. The stadium has a capacity of 1,734 and is part of a 47-acre (190,000 m2) facility which is also home to the Mustangs softball team. The stadium can be expanded with additional bleachers to a capacity of 3,042 as was the case for the 2014 NCAA Baseball Regional hosted by Cal Poly.
